MF Render

Render very easy with this script.

Category: Free work
Downloadable: Free

How to install

You can easily run the script by dragging it in 3ds Max. If this doesn’t work, choose MAXScript -> Run Script…

Create button

If you want a button in 3ds max, you need to create one yourself. Here are the steps:

  • Save the script to a location. (Example C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2013\scripts\)
  • Open the MAXScript editor (MAXScript -> MAXScript Editor…) and create a new script (File -> New)
  • Copy paste the following code:
macroScript JosMFRender
tooltip:"MF Render"
buttonText:"MF Render"
    fileIn @"C:\\"
  • Change the path to the location where you saved the file
  • Run the code (Tools -> Evaluate All) .
  • Don’t worry, nothing should’ve happen.
  • Go to Customize -> Customize User Interface
  • go to the ToolBar tab and choose as group “Main UI” and Category “Custom”.
  • Drag MF Render somewhere on the Main Toolbar to create a button

How to use:

- Add files or folder to list.
- Enable global overwrite settings if needed. Settings you don’t overwrite will be taken from each file.
- if you want you can choose to shutdown your computer, logoff or quit max when the render is completed.

If you need more info, just comment. I hope the interface is obvious.

Thanks for the wonderful script! Can’t wait to try it.
How does it work with BatchCameraRender? If I have a scene with BCR set up and ready to go do I just add that MAX file to the list of your script? Or there’s something else I should do?

Love this script, thankyou and I’d like to b e able to install this as a permanent button in my max interface, but as it’s a .ms file you can’t do this. Any chance you can update it to a mzp file?

Hi Karl, I’ve added instructions above to create a button yourselves (it’s very easy to do)! Let me know if you have any problems

        we can render like multi cam;
        i did this way:
        1) create cameras (in my scene i had two) and place them.
        2) copy second camera’s coordinates to notepad (and target also)
        3) activate autokey mode and for first cam set key to frame 0
        4) go frame 1 and paste 2′nd cam’s coordinates over first cam (make same step for target)
        5) in script dialog box, in over tab, click time and set range to 0-1.

in second or third scene do it again.

in the end; thank for script.

Hi! The script is really awesome, great job! But, we’ve stumbled upon a problem. Namely, when using Vray distributed rendering for some reason the automatic transfer of assets does not work? Any idea why this is happening?

    • Jos says:

Unfortunately I don’t have a license for Vray and therefore was never be able to test it.. Hope you find a solution to your problem.

      • Chopmeister says:

Ah, too bad. I’ve looked through the script but can’t seem to find any reason for it behaving like that. The setting which enables asset transfer in Vray definitely is saved with the file, that’s why it’s weird. :/

If I find a solution I’ll let you know.
